IRIX 6.5 or later must be installed.
A number of components (FFilter2D, FFilter3D, FPwrSpec2D, FPwrSpec3D, FTransform2D, FTransform3D, SurfHarmMod, and the final stage of bead alignment) require the n32 version of libblas.so. This is an optional part of the Fortran Compiler Execution Environment (ftn_eoe_sw) from SGI.
3DModel, Mrc2Tiff, Tiff2Mrc, and ImageCapture's TIFF and dmconvert plugins expect libtiff.so to be installed. This is part of the Image Format Library Execution environment (ifl_eoe package) and is likely already installed on your system.
To use the ImgToMat and MatToImg tools, which convert to and from Matlab .mat files, you will need Matlab 5.* or 6.5 installed.
During installation, you will need space for the downloaded archive and the uncompressed files; the uncompressed files do not need to be on the same disk as the downloaded archive. Once the software is installed, the downloaded archive may be deleted. The space required is 50 megabytes during installation and 35 megabytes afterwards.
While the software is running, it makes extensive use of a shared memory file and related temporary files. The amount of space needed for these files depends on the size of the data sets loaded, but a minimal configuration should have 200 megabytes of space available for these files and having approximately 500 megabytes of space available would be better. Step 4 of the installation procedure describes how the default location for the shared memory and temporary files is set in the sample setup script.
