UltraCam
The UltraCam was developed as a collaboration between Professors David Agard, John Sedat and GATAN. It is a lens-coupled 4k x 4k back-illuminated camera that uses a transmission scintillator and a Beryllium mirror to reduce the effect of electron back-scatter thus improving the DQE at high spatial frequencies. It is incorporated into the GIF which is used to remove inelastic scatter from thick highly tilted tomography samples.

The GIF/UltraCam is bolted onto the Polara frame. The cameras vibration isolation suspension is integrated into the microscopes airsuspension and is self leveling. A fourth air spring is located at the rear of the system to support the additional load of the UltraCam.
