I am wanting to run O on a couple of indys as well as our SGI machines. The screen quality seems to be exceptionally bad - the background is very grainy yet when Tom and Turbo are run on these machines the background is fine. Is there something I can set to correct this problem??

Just change the colour screen in O with screen_colour black.

Indys are SGI machines, aren't they?

If you compare the graphics quality of a Indy XZ with that of a Indigo2 XZ, there is no difference (identical boards!). For both Indy and Indigo2 the following holds: XL-24 should be the same quality as XZ, just slower, depending on CPU speed. XL-8 gives worse quality.

To improve background appearance, give the O command: 'screen black' (I have no idea why this is NOT the default).

The command

 screen ;

will set the screen colour to the default black, which will remove the unpleasant dithered colouring that is yielded by the standard Indy graphics card.

Catherine, Have you tried screen black? Dave Timm
