IVE Versions at UCSF

IVE 4

IVE 4 is the version that is updated regularly. Binaries are available for x86 and x86_64 Linux and Mac OS X for Intel (binaries for Mac OS X for PowerPC were available in IVE 4.3.0 and earlier; binaries for IRIX 6.5 were available in IVE 4.2.5 and earlier). The most recently released distribution (executables, libraries, include files, etc.) for x86 and x86_64 Linux is in /msg/home33/branlunde/priism on the Wynton cluster or on /net/em-stor2/Volumes/home33/branlunde/priism on MSG machines like lbox1. x86 and x86_64 Linux binaries for the current development version are in /msg/home33/branlunde/priismx on the Wynton cluster or /net/em-stor2/Volumes/home33/branlunde/priismx on the MSG machines like lbox1. A copy of the development version is also available in /home/eric/priismx on the machines that mount /home from baboon.

IVE 3.3

This is the predecessor to IVE 4 that ran on IRIX 6.5 (some processing applications were also available for x86 Linux, Alpha Linux, and OSF1). The only reason you would likely want to look at this version is as a point of comparison for the behavior of IVE 4. The files for this are not directly available. Backups of home2/lehua/IVE3.3 will have the files though only older copies will contain the binaries.

IVE 6.3 is the name that was given to the version of IVE 3.3 that was under active development. The files for this are not directly available. Backups of home2/lehua/IVE6.3 will have the files though only older copies will contain the binaries.

IVE 3

This version is the predecessor to IVE 3.3. It ran on IRIX 5.3 through IRIX 6.5 systems. Besides a large number of incremental changes, IVE 3 differed from IVE 3.3 in the layout of the Priism user interface and the format of the binaries (o32 versus n32 as used by IVE 3.3). There were two full variants of that version on disk. Neither is readily accessible now, but backups of home2/lehua/IVE3 will have the first, which is likely the one to prefer. Backups of home2/lehua/IVE3_pop will have the other. Only the older backups will contain the binaries.

IVE 2

This version is the oldest that was still on disk in the late 1990s. It ran on IRIX 5.3 through IRIX 6.5 systems. It had a different image window interface and memory management strategy than later versions and used IRIS GL rather than Open GL. It did not have the equivalent of the Priism_setup script found in later versions. The files are no longer readily accessible, but can be found in backups of home2/lehua/IVE2. Only the older backups will include the binaries.
