Things are set up so that access from an SGI is the easiest way to get to the programs you'll want to run (as time goes on, and people become more accustommed to working from their desktop Windows PC, PC Linux or MacOSX machines, these methods will become easier).

  1. Get an MSG account from Matt Harrington
  2. Log into your MSG account from an SGI
  3. Use a program we have called 'prepare' to set up the environment of the program you want to run. For example, to set up the CCP4 suite, type:

    prepare ccp4

If you just type the word prepare, you'll get a listing of all the programs that you can set up using 'prepare'. For more information on 'prepare', visit the Computing FAQs page.
  4. Software is installed on a machine called 'luddite' in a directory called /home/public/apps/.
