Most people want to go the other way around, but I would expect that using swapbytes should work equally well in this direction. I.e., run swapbytes (or the swapbytes option in MAPMAN) and then binary ftp the map to your Vax. This assumes that your version of Frodo uses Alwyn's DSN6 format and not some bastardisation of it.
