Howard Terry had problems with this on an Indigo 2 Extreme:

"If we run O from a winterm under the 4Dwm then our problems disappear and we get splendid stereo, no flickering, bloody fast etc. Running O from an xterm or a winterm under the Motif window manager mwm results in the display of the two images well displaced from each other. Thanks to Kay Diederichs in Freiburg and Kim Henrick in London for advice and help in pointing us in the right direction."
